Actually, they do: the IOS configuration profiles allow you to set the 
option XAuthEnabled to Off.

However, it is not possible to set this option on the IOS device itself.
The option is also not available in the iPhone Configuration Utility, so 
you must enter the option by hand in the .mobileconfig file.
