[strongSwan] Strongswan 4.2.0

Hello, 
I am a newbie to IPsec and have been thrown into a project that utilizes 4.2.0 Strongswan. I see that your latest version is 4.6.2. 
Is there an upgrade path I need to follow or is it wise for me to start fresh with 4.6.2?
