No, these should basically still be ok.  But you might want to add or change
some options (e.g. add different EAP methods or change sysconfdir).  You'll find
the whole list of options under [1] or with "./configure --help".

Only if you don't want to use the Vstr string library.  So you can either use
Vstr (--enable-vstr) or patch the C library and avoid the dependency on Vstr.
