[strongSwan] Older Windows Clients

Hi,

I'm trying to configure a forwarding VPN (as per http://wiki.strongswan.org/projects/strongswan/wiki/ForwardingAndSplitTunneling) for some older Windows machines. These machines run Vista and XP.

Regarding the former, I see that Vista support appears possible (via http://wiki.strongswan.org/projects/strongswan/wiki/WindowsSuiteB), though I have yet to successfully set up a working connection. The setup outlined on the SuiteB page looks like it would cause the connection to the VPN gateway to be set up automatically upon any attempted connection to the remote network (in this case, the entire internet). It would do this via Windows firewall rules. This is rather different than the way I set up Windows 7, which was through Windows "Set up a connection or network" GUI. The latter GUI has the advantage of being able to connect and disconnect from the VPN easily. Is the firewall approach the only way to set up a Vista client for a Strongswan server? If not, what kind of server-side config should I be using?

Regarding XP, does Strongswan support the native XP VPN client (again, via Windows' "Setup a connection or network" wizard) at all? I have been unable to find any guides online.

Best Regards,
Eric
