[strongSwan] strongswan limits

Hi, I´m evaluating Strongswan as an alternative to an existing installation
with Sonicwall and Fortinet. I´m passing voip and a data in about 80 sites
and a similar number of tunnels.
It works well in general, but in peak hours the voice tends to have
problems.

Sonicwall´s support has been terrible, as our central point using this brand
has been very unstable and the datasheets says it should support 1500
tunnels, 1Gbps vpn throughput, 10k new sessions per second, 500k
connections, etc. But it happens that it can´t cope with 80 vpn tunnels
using data and voice.

I´ve used Strongswan in the past and will try it again in this scenario. My
questions (to prepare an internal document) are:

-Do you have any idea about what would be the limits (throuput,
sessions/sec) of a Strongswan installation using a Quad Xeon 2.2Ghz, 4Gb RAM
+ Debian 5? Any idea about how to measure it?

-What is the biggest installation you have working or have heard of using
Strongswan?

Regards,

Omar
