[Announce] ANNOUNCE: strongswan-2.8.8 - final release of the 2.8 branch

Hi,

with the final strongswan-2.8.8 release we officially close the 2.8
branch. Of course if a serious bug would be detected in the future
we will provide a fix for the problem. Otherwise as announced at the
beginning of this year all maintenance is going to be discontinued
by the end of 2007.

Our efforts will go into the current 4.x branch which is going to offer
increased modularity and a tighter integration of the IKEv1 and IKEv2
daemons in 2008.
