    That's fair.  I did do that, read my logs, but I misunderstood what
    the log was saying it seems.<br>

    Here's what I'm getting after copying that back over and removing
    the '=' after conn.<br>

    Stopping strongSwan IPsec failed: starter is not running<br>
    no files found matching '/etc/strongswan.d/*.conf'<br>

    I was interpreting "no files found matching
    '/etc/strongswan.d/*.conf'" to mean ipsec.conf.  This is wrong from
    what you are telling me.  My bad.  What should I be debugging?<br>
